Today’s featured auction: Beautiful Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo on Cookie Jar – By “majesti”
Item Description: This unique piece features the Lesser Sulphur Crested Cockatoo. The bird is made of bisque and measures about 16″ bent over from head to tail. She is hand cast, fired and then reshaped to fit this piece. She is completely hand-painted and detailed (right up to her glass eyes), and she is OH SO REALISTIC as she munches on the slice of apple she scooped right out of the basket! The Apple Basket is also made of bisque and is 10″ high and about 7″ in diameter. It is completely hand-painted and the juicy, red apples look good enough to eat! The apples lift off to reveal a very large jar in which to stash the cookies (or anything else for that matter!) This beautiful piece is ONE OF A KIND and will NEVER BE DUPLICATED. It is signed and dated and is an original design and creation.

Amazing Cockatoo Story w/photos! May 29, 2007
Posted by Andrew in : Cockatoo , add a comment...please?It’s a heartwarming story called “A Tale of Two Cockies” and includes many beautiful photos.
Below is a an excerpt from the page:
About eight years ago a wild Australian Sulphur Crested Cockatoo flew into a car and broke its wing. The motorist took it to the Vet in Nerang, Queensland, who had to amputate the wing. We adopted her - for which we needed a National Parks and Wildlife permit - and kept her in a cage outside where she was often visited by wild Cockatoos. One of the things that impressed us was how she would push lettuce leaves through the bars of the cage, offering food to visitors.
