Paleo Diet for Birds April 23, 2013

Posted by Andrew in : Misc,News , trackback

I was just reading about this ‘new’ paleo diet thing (can you tell I’m not on it? lol), and wondering if anyone feeds their parrots this way.

It would seem like it couldn’t be a bad thing, especially cutting out the processed foods, so I’m thinking yea?

Even if you don’t feed your birds according to the paleo diet, would you?  What do you think?

I think its a great idea. It a great idea finding out what your particular bird's relatives eat out in the wild and then feed your bird the closest to that. If find it makes a healthier and happier feathered friend. But a little cheese now and again doesn't hurt either as a treat.
I have doves btw. ;)

With type-2 diabetes, your body becomes desensitized to insulin, the hormone that takes glucose out of your blood stream and releases it into your cells. Since the paleo diet eliminates refined sugar and grains but includes lots of healthy fat and protein, meals are very satisfying and balance your blood sugar, so you are left feeling less hungry and with fewer cravings.

Why don’t people just quit eating garbage like fast food, processed food, and tons of sugar, and get off the couch. Then they wouldn’t be so darn desperate as to try something as stupid as this. OF COURSE you are going to lose weight on this diet – you are only eating 500 calories a day. That’s starvation, and you WILL gain it back. You will lose weight if you just eliminate fast food. But sadly, most people won’t do it.
