Two pets were killed by fumes after a candle caused a fire at a Leyland home.
A parrot and a cockatiel died when Christmas cards and wrapping paper were set alight by the candles.
The owners of the house, on Broadfield Drive, returned at 11.30am yesterday to find thick, black smoke billowing out of their living room.
The fire damaged a table and a ventilation unit was used to clear the smoke.

Sad to lose a friend. (lost mine recently) Too bad people didn’t keep their eyes open about the paper n candles and both obviously don’t mix.
