Looks like the screech owl we occasionally get in our back yard. Only that cutey looks like a little orangy kitten cause of the little ear turfs. He/she naturally comes to the backyard like our kitty for the mice.

Thanks for the comment Ktigress. Do you have birds?

This is a peasant blouse I made for my daughter. I followed a pattern for it, but it turned out kind of short and wide, and my daughter is long and skinny. I had to take out about 4 inches of elastic at the neck, and then I had to add about 3 inches to the bottom. The seam where I added the extra fabric just happened to be at the waist, so I added a casing and elastic to hide the fact that I didn’t match the pattern. http://www.weaver.ws/peasantshirt.jpg The fabric is left over from a dress that I made. It’s actually an old bedsheet that I got at a yard sale. I think I spent $1 on the sheet, and I got a dress for me and this shirt for my daughter.

The second we walked in the door the guy having the sale was sort of yelling at his mom after some books had been knocked over. He was sort of being a dick, but caught himself and realized he was getting upset with his mom during a yard sale in what I can only guess is her house.

Truth be told, my heart just wasn’t in it this morning. I stayed up until 1am shipping all this stuff and watching the ESPN Fab 5 documentary (excellent by the way if you love college bball), and I was tired. I even snoozed and didn’t get out of bed until 6:38am (so obviously I was running late!). I hadn’t even gone to the bank the night before to get cash, so I left the house with $19 in my pocket. I only had 4 yard sales on my list, so I figured I could make it work. First yard sale, nice neighborhood, nice house, nice cars, nice looking people, JUNK. Second yard sale, older neighborhood, I see brightly colored plastic and it looks good. I immediately see a pile of toy story toys I want to buy, all for 25 cents each! Score! Wait…oh, sorry, you just bought these? I apologize *frown*. Mental note: no more sleeping in till 6:38am. Let’s see…is there anything else I might like? You betcha!

Now, polyester has no place in my sewing/fashion fantasies. In said fantasies, I prance around in warm soft wool crepe dresses, slippery silk charmeuse blouses, rayon lycra polka dot tops and light and breathable cotton lawn skirts, all fabric acquired via diligent online or Garment District sale-hunting. But put a nice polka dot or geometric print fabric in front of me with a big handwritten “$1/yard!” (or, let’s face it, even “$3/yard!”) sign and I LOSE ALL REASON and sense of fiber content.
