The Human Hummingbird Feeder August 1, 2007

Posted by Andrew in : Wild Birds, hummingbird , trackback

I got these AMAZING photos in an email thats going around.

Enjoy!

Human Hummingbird Feeder!

This lady is Abigail Alfano of Pine, Louisiana – - she did not do it for a lark but had studied them daily and one morning put the cup in her hand with water in it. They had gotten used to her standing by the feeder and came over to her hand. She says in touching they are as light as a feather. Said if she had known her husband would take pictures she would have put on makeup !!

This is something I have never seen before. This lady lives in a Hummingbird fly zone. As they migrated, about 20 of them were in her yard. Just for a lark, she took the little red dish and filled it with sugar water and this is the result.

PRETTY AMAZING.

That is one of the most awesome stories ever! I’m surprised I am the first to comment. It goes to show that kindness goes a long way and reaps some of the best benefits! I am jealous and will be trying this at work. I have recently hung a hummingbird feeder outside of my office and have seen 5 or 6 of them flying around.

that is just a stunning example about how humans and nature can live toghether without harming each other. Its a pity that we don’t have hummingbirds in the australian bush! And the fact that we have some feral and aggressive cats in my neighbourhood and the only birds are huge birds that can fend for themselves. (these are usually around 45cm, can be larger, are called cockatoos . They can imitate human words. Can also live under good conditions over 90 years! They also have a clear understanding of human emotions. A perfect pat)

Wow I have never seen anything like that, thats so amazing!
They must have had a lot of thinking to do that. I was very surprised when I read that sorry, I have a hummingbird feader I love watching them fly around. It is amazing how fast they fly! I will try that one time. Bye!

We have 6 hummingbirds who get impatient while I fill our feeder. They get so close to me I can feel the wind off their wings. If I hold the feeder they will eat from it so I suppose I could try holding a red bowl as well and see if we can get the same results.

That would be a nice story…too bad the photo’s are Photoshopped. :s

As a TRUE story however, my wife had saved several hummingbirds after running into the glass windows outside and being stunned. She would pick them up and hold them gently while feeding them a little sugarwater until they regained consciousness. They were some fortunate little fellas – there were about 6 or 7 cats that watched for these rare lunchtime opportunities! I had the chance to hold one, and it truly was amazing how light and tiny they are. Shortly thereafter, they’d wake up, look around kinda confused, then buzz off quickly. Certainly an incredible creation they are!

I have a hummingbird feeder on my porch with my container garden. The little birds come within a couple of feet of me (it can be quite startling). It’s a shame someone has called Photoshop on your amazing photos, as I believe this could be quite possible.

My whole family enjoys watching our little hummingbirds in our picture window. I believe this picture, I have seen my step-father hold a hummingbird before. This is a fantastic picture of human and nature….It is quite a shame if someone called photoshop on you. Good job! :)
